I am just curious to know, who gives so much money for campaigning? According to Sheila Krumholz, the executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics, the presidential candidates alone have already raised more than $1.5 billion since the election cycle started in January 2007. Is that a joke? I know that to show ads on TV, they need some money but 1.5 BILLION is way too much.

This seems like a win-win. Small businesses would make money selling it. States would save money on arrest, prosecution and detention, and the federal government would make money through taxes. Any ideas what dollar amounts we’re talking about?

I try to give around $5,000 per year to organizations that give women in states like Mississippi free transport and lodging and abortions, since it can be tough for them to travel to the nearest abortion facility.

That amount of money pays all the expenses of about 5 women per year. It’s not a huge number, but it certainly does help.

How much money do YOU give to abortion rights groups each year?

Is there a cut off point?

Clearly the police would not open fire on a purse snatcher, but if you grabbed a bag of the back of an armored car and ran, they likely would.

So how much is enough? Would that amount of money where it begins to be ok to shoot people over money amount to the value of a human life?

I really don’t understand the entitlement thing.

Why can’t you just accept that some people will have more money than you? Do you understand that it is THEIR money?

President Obama hopes to redistribute at least $131 billion per year from the top 1 percent of taxpayers to all other taxpayers.

Not only is the idea of taking the money wrong, how about how dumb it sounds to allow the government to redistribute it, as if they can handle money appropriately?

Using this logic, what is the incentive to work and improve yourself?

If Socialism has “failed” so badly, then why has Canada been running a budget surplus in the billions for 10 straight years? And why do they live longer and are happier and have no enemies? What part of that qualifies as failure?

For example, AIG has borrowed almost $90 BILLION from the Fed.

Wasn’t it Greenspan’s easy money that helped to set up this fiasco in the first place? Why is the Dem Congress (and Bush) allowing the US to use easy money to set up another fiasco?

AIG. Is it not possible that some employes brought in huge amount of business while the company as a whole lost money. Let say that the company had promised in writing that sales people would receive 2% of the insurance face value they sold. A sales person sells $2,000,000 worth of Insurance. He/she has $4 million bonus coming to her. Is it not fare that she gets that $4 million even though AIG lost money.
